About Us

Photo of smiling Rachel in a purple blouse standing in front of a tree.Hello! My name is Rachel and I'm the owner of Johnny & Dot. I am so happy you're here!

I hope you find something within the pages of this shop that inspires confidence and joy and brings a smile to your face! A little about me...I spent over 20 years working in higher education and have my BA in Speech Communication and MS in Higher Education. I am a Southern California native but my husband and I recently relocated to Nashville, Tennessee! With that move, I have began working full time with Johnny & Dot which is a dream come true!  I might also have a slight obsession with succulents & sunsets!

I am married to the most incredible man named Jim. We got engaged in the Florida Keys in the Summer of 2021 during an epic 3-week road trip and were married in July 2022 on the shores of Lake McDonald at Glacier National Park in Montana. We have a special love for Montana and dream of owning a lake house there someday!

Jim wears multiple hats within Johnny & Dot including Director of Logistics, Shipping Coordinator, Chief Quality Control Engineer, and perhaps the most important one, Chief Encouragement Officer. They are all currently volunteer positions but maybe someday he'll be promoted! But in all seriousness, he's a true gem and I'm so thankful for all of his support!

So you might be wondering who are Johnny & Dot? Is that just a made-up pair of names that sound kind of good together? DEFINITELY NOT!

Black and white photo of Johnny and Dot on their wedding day in 1937.Johnny & Dot are my incredible grandparents.

They poured so much love into our family and I am forever grateful that the Lord gave them to me as grandparents. My family is of Russian ancestry so they will always be my Baboonya & Gedda. They met in Long Beach, CA but grew up in the Boyle Heights area of Los Angeles and were married on July 18, 1937 (Jim and I also married on July 18th!)  My Baboonya passed away much too young in 1986 at the age of 69 and my Gedda would follow in 2010 at the age of 94. My life and the life of my sisters, cousin, and the entire family was forever impacted by their love of family and so it seemed fit to honor their legacy by naming my shop after them. Plus, aren't they just the most beautiful couple?

Everything we do as a business is rooted in the values, work ethic, and love they showed me. If you've made it this far into our description of who we are...thank you! I am sincerely humbled by your support and want you to know that if there is ever anything I can do to better serve you, please reach out and let me know.

Much love,
 Rachel written out in cursive
